Wednesday, March 2, 2022, is the deadline to declare candidacy in the 2022 election for the Rockridge Community Planning Council’s Board of Directors.

The December meeting of the RCPC Land Use Committee, scheduled for December 22nd at 7:30 PM, is being cancelled.

The Oakland Independent Redistricting Commission is currently drawing City Council and School Board Districts, which we will be in place for the next decade. Unfortunately, one of the proposed maps will divide Rockridge! 

“As noted in our COI input below, there are dozens of reasons why Rockridge is a Community of Interest and thus, per the FAIR MAPS Act criteria of minimizing the division of COI’s, Rockridge should not be divided in your adopted maps.”

The legislative session ended on September 9, 2021. The Governor is now either signing or vetoing bills that made it to his desk.

Continuing our neighborhood’s great, ghoulish tradition, the Rockridge District Association (RDA) and the Rockridge Community Planning Council (RCPC) invite you to celebrate Halloween on College Avenue.

The Rockridge Community Planning Council (RCPC) has two board seats that are cur­rently open and available to be filled by board appointment.

In deference to requests from the RCPC Board Chair and several land use committee members, the July land use committee meeting is being rescheduled.

With the hope of having a bit more to talk about, the July Land Use Committee meeting is being postponed from Wed., July 21st to Wed. July 28th.

This is the second article in a series focusing on RCPC history.

RCPC sent Safeway/Albertsons a letter telling them how we wanted to use our $400,000 community benefits settlement to design and build a series of traffic calming projects along streets just west of the store.

The Rockridge Community Planning Council and the Greater Rockridge Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council will hold their annual joint Town Hall.

People of all ages can participate in the Summer Reading Program.

Because Rockridge is such a desirable place to live – with pleasant tree-lined streets, convenient walking access to shops selling food and clothing as well as a drug store, hardware store and lots of other things, and convenient access to public transit, freeways, and major surface streets, land costs are higher here than almost anywhere else in the East Bay.

As has been true in recent legislative sessions, the Legislature began this year with a stack of bills to change state housing policy – this in response to the California’s much-reported housing crisis; but that crisis is complicated.

The June meeting of the land use committee will be on Monday, June 21st starting at 7:30 PM on Zoom.

The May meeting of the land use committee will be on Monday, May 24th starting at 7:30 PM on Zoom.

Congratulations to the new and returning Board members. A total of 436 ballots were cast in the election. The top six candidates have been seated on the board.
