Our Purpose

The Rockridge Community Planning Council (RCPC) was incorporated in 1985 as a non-profit public-benefit organization to:

  • Preserve and enhance the unique character of the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland, California

  • Promote the health, safety, and quality of life of its residents

  • Furnish a forum for community involvement

  • Provide leadership and representation of neighborhood interests

Group of diverse people protesting for housing rights, holding signs that read 'Yes to Housing' and 'No to Home Depot' during a day-time rally.

In 2022, RCPC joined neighborhood organizations to fight for housing, and to say “no” to Home Depot.

Noteworthy Initiatives

The Rockridge News is the RCPC public newsletter published every month (except August) and distributed throughout the district and nearby neighborhoods as well as delivered electronically via email.

Several landmark projects had their genesis in the RCPC. These include the the Hardy Dog Park, Friends of the Rockridge Temescal Greenbelt (FROG Park), and the Friends of the Rockridge Library (FORL).

RCPC offers many opportunities to be involved in the community through its standing committees.
