Planning for this year’s Rockridge Kitchen Tour is now in full swing, and the deadline to submit a kitchen for consideration is May 15, 2022. 

The General Plan Update for Oakland’s 2045 General Plan is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for all Oaklanders to work together to create a visionary blueprint for the future of our city.

The Jewish Community Center of the East Bay (JCCEB) announced via its email newsletter that it has started expanding some of its activities to the complex of buildings at 5929 College Avenue

After plenty of time cooped up in our own homes, we now have an opportunity to visit other people’s homes.

The RCPC Land Use Committee will hold its regular February meeting on-line via Zoom

RCPC is participating, along with other Rockridge groups, in circulating a petition asking the master tenant for Shops at The Ridge, TRC, Inc., to clean up the blighted conditions there.

The RCPC Land Use Committee will hold its regular January meeting on January 26th starting at 7:30 PM over Zoom.

We will then invite the community to discuss and prioritize the issues that the organization’s board will tackle in 2022.

Last year had some challenges, and the directors and members of the Rockridge Community Planning Council stepped up to meet them enthusiastically.

We learned that the most popular options for land use were, in order of preference: housing, small-scale retail, and restaurants.

Wednesday, March 2, 2022, is the deadline to declare candidacy in the 2022 election for the Rockridge Community Planning Council’s Board of Directors.

The December meeting of the RCPC Land Use Committee, scheduled for December 22nd at 7:30 PM, is being cancelled.

The Oakland Independent Redistricting Commission is currently drawing City Council and School Board Districts, which we will be in place for the next decade. Unfortunately, one of the proposed maps will divide Rockridge! 

“As noted in our COI input below, there are dozens of reasons why Rockridge is a Community of Interest and thus, per the FAIR MAPS Act criteria of minimizing the division of COI’s, Rockridge should not be divided in your adopted maps.”

The legislative session ended on September 9, 2021. The Governor is now either signing or vetoing bills that made it to his desk.
