New Shelter-In-Place Order Halts Most Construction Activity

Friday, April 3, 2020

Use Oakland Police non-emergency line: (510) 777-333 to report violations. Friday, April 3, 2020

Alameda County has tightened its shelter in place order to prohibit most construction activity.  Projects such as remodels, additions, or construction of commercial or market-rate housing may not be started, and are only allowed to secure previously-started project sites to prevent damage.

There are exceptions for shelters or temporary housing, medical facilities, and affordable housing (minimum 10% permanently affordable) and for necessary public works projects and repair projects necessary to protect health, safety, or habitability, but all other construction projects must cease.

Violators may be reported to the Oakland Police Department for enforcement actions, using the department's non-emergency phone number: (510) 777-3333.
