Local Masons Flip Flapjacks for Claremont

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

The Fifth Annual Claremont Middle School Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Oakland-Durant-Rockridge Masonic Lodge #188 raised about $4,000 to benefit our neighborhood public middle school.

The Masons generously hosted this annual PTA fundraiser on April 26 in association with the Rockridge District Association (RDA) and the Claremont Middle School Dads Club. Guests enjoyed a hearty menu of pancakes, eggs, bacon and sausage cooked up at the historic Masonic Lodge at 5449 College Avenue in the heart of Rockridge.

The event, both fundraiser and community builder, brought people from the school community, the neighborhood and local merchants together to eat, meet and mingle. Funds raised will support PTA-funded educational enrichment at Claremont - including the school library, computer lab and an upcoming 7th grade field trip to Yosemite National Park.

The CMS Dads Club extends sincere thanks to the members of the Rockridge Masonic Lodge for opening their beautiful facility to the public and cooking delicious food for all who attended. Credit also is due to Chris Jackson and the Rockridge District Association for helping to make the pancake breakfast a success.

Local merchants that purchased tickets included FIT, a women's fashion boutique just across the street from the school; First Federal Savings and Loan at the corner of College and Claremont; and Market Hall Foods at Rockridge Market Hall.

The CMS Dads Club would also like to thank Tootsies Shoe Boutique, Pegasus Books, Jules Thin Crust Pizza, TRANSPORTS, Rockridge Home and the Oakland Athletics for donating valuable raffle prizes to the event.

Also attending the breakfast were District 1 Councilmember Dan Kalb and our local School Board Director, Jody London.
