Kitchen Tour: Ideas Aplenty Inspiring Designs for You in Eight Neighborhood Kitchens

Thursday, July 9, 2015

The 2015 Rockridge Kitchen Tour, the original home kitchen event in one of Oakland's most walkable neighborhoods, is set for Sunday, September 20, 12:30 - 5:30 p.m.

For the advance purchase price of $40, you can tour eight new kitchens including one full-home tour. Each space is a stunning example of its kind, from impeccable bungalow kitchen restorations to grand modern living spaces. Once again, our Rockridge homes boast designs and build quality that are bold, innovative, tasteful and, sometimes, surprising.

Be sure to see the bright, spacious kitchen with a butler's pantry and stunning bridge view in the landmark Morse House and the impeccably appointed W. W. Dixon Tudor, remarkably true to the period. Certainly, be sure to visit the contemporary kitchen with an unexpected twist.

While you stroll through the neighborhood enjoying kitchens and refreshments, remember that the Kitchen Tour is RCPC's primary fundraiser. Net proceeds allow RCPC to continue funding neighborhood improvements, such as the Rockridge-Temescal Greenbelt/Frog Park, Rockridge BART Plaza, and others.

New Events for the 2015 Tour

The Kitchen Expo, September 17, 7-9 p.m. at the Rockridge Library, is FREE to all ticket holders but registration is requested. The Expo offers an opportunity to meet the creative talent behind the kitchens you will see on the tour. Come learn how these design professionals approach kitchen renovations.

The Berkeley Mills Seminar provides an introduction to kitchen design by a construction company that can integrate its history of fine furniture and cabinet making into a kitchen.

Docents Needed

Join the fun and get the inside scoop on Rockridge's recently renovated kitchens by volunteering to be a docent for the 2015 Tour. Docents are a key element of the success of our tour and guide guests through our featured kitchens with stories and insights about each kitchen's unique aspects. Docents receive a pre-tour, behind-the-scenes look at the elements and stories that impressed our selection committee. Also, docents may visit tour kitchens with a complimentary ticket, either before or after their shift on the day of the event. E-mail Laura Schlichtmann at for more information.
