RCPC Town Hall: Whither Rockridge Retail? A Community Forum

Event Time:
Thursday, June 19, 2014 - 7:30pm - 9:00pm
Rockridge library, 5366 Manila Ave. Oakland CA

Please join us and your friends and neighbors for an interactive and lively discussion with Rachel Flynn, Director, Oakland Planning and Building Department. Ms. Flynn is a licensed architect and urban planner with more than 25 years of public and private sector experience.

We will explore the trajectory of retail in Oakland and consider what "retail success" has meant for other cities, and what it might look like for Rockridge. Some neighbors feel there are too many personal services moving onto College Avenue, while others have expressed a desire for a particular kind of store, such as a hardware or a childrenÕs book store. Other neighbors are happy with the number of great restaurants, while others think there are too many.

Come to the meeting to find out what the facts are. Come prepared to share your definition of what makes a successful retail and commercial community, and what concerns and excites you about how retail in Rockridge is evolving.

In the coming months, RCPC will facilitate additional conversations around the unique qualities that promote the socio-economic health and diversity of our neighborhood. Through these discussions, we hope to identify strategies for how residents can positively influence commercial and community activity reflective of the shared values of Rockridge.

Pizza & friends, 7pm, program starts at 7:30pm. Please RSVP: info@rockridge.org
