Oakland Tech Graduates Awarded Over $1.8M in Scholarships

More than 71 dedicated and remarkable seniors of Oakland Technical High School's 2013 graduating class of over 350 received more than $1.8 million in scholarship money.

One student who received five scholarships plans to pursue a career in medicine at Occidental College in the fall. Asked how his scholarships will help, he said, "My scholarships will relieve the stress of financial burden and allow me to focus on academics."

Thank you to the Oakland community for supporting the 2013 "This Is It" auction, our school's most significant fundraiser.

We are pleased to report that we grossed more than $85,000, a new record. The total includes 350 tickets sold, and income from online, silent and live auctions.

We appreciate the generous donations from Rockridge businesses and residents to our auction. Your special items, food, and generous gift certificates enabled us to offer a tantalizing array of dinners, clothing, food, vacations, wine and outings to the Tech community.

In celebration of 100 years of educating high school students, Oakland Technical High School Centennial staff has produced a book celebrating the school and its history.

October Town Hall Meeting -- Rockridge Schools

This month's regular Town Hall meeting focuses on Rockridge's public schools.  Oakland School Board President (and our representative), Jody London, will talk about the school district's startegis planning process.  She will also introduce the principals of Rockridge's public schools:

Chabot, Peralta, and Emerson Elementary Schools

Claremont Middle School, and

Oakland Technical High School

Each principal will talk about their school and how they are working to make it better.
