A full-house crowd attended the RCPC- Oakland League of Women Voters joint Town Hall on October 4th at the Rockridge Library.   Kathleen Cha, the Oakland League's communications director and a veteran presenter, went through the state and local ballot measures that will be on the ballot November 6th.  She briefly summarized what each measure was about, told what groups were supporting and opposing each measure, and gave the major pros and cons for eah measure.

Understanding Oakland's Ranked-Choice Voting
Are you ready for another Ranked-Choice Voting (RCV) election? Oakland elects its Mayor, City Council members, City Attorney, City Auditor, and School Directors using ranked-choice voting. For all other races, you'll simply pick your single most preferred candidate, or vote yes or no on a ballot measure.

Who knew Oakland was having an election this November?  Well, now you do.  You've probably gotten you ballot handbook in the mail by now, and your ballot as well.  However, you've probably also heard very little about what's on the ballot, and you may not even realize this is a mail-only election.  There will be no polling place to go to to cast your vote; just a mailbox.

The Rockridge Community Planning Council is sponsoring a mayoral candidate forum Thursday, October 14, at 7:00 p.m. at the College Preparatory School. Representatives of the League of Women Voters (LWV) will lead and moderate the discussion. All mayoral candidates slated for the November ballot have been invited to the forum.
