Rockridge-Temescal Greenbelt Summer Solstice Work Party Call

Thursday, June 19, 2014

Celebrate the summer solstice and our delightful greenbelt, and help get the creek area ready for summer. The June Interim Work Party, sponsored by the DMV Neighbors Association, is set for Saturday morning, June 21, from 9 a.m. to noon. Priority projects are pruning, weeding the creek banks (especially between the DMV and Clifton Street), spreading mulch, cutting back willow roots, and grubbing out blackberries and ivy. The sign-in table will be located by the big eucalyptus at the corner of Redondo and Cavour. Pick up tools and gloves, on loan from the city of Oakland, or bring your own tools, well-marked. The creek will not be turned off, so wear boots or closed-toe shoes that can get wet and muddy if you want to work in the creek. Be sure to wear plenty of sunscreen. As with all volunteer activities in the park, minors must have signed parental waivers to participate. The DMV Neighbors Association will provide morning pastries and coffee. Everyone is welcome, so come for the morning or come for an hour if thatÕs all you can. For more information, contact Leonora Sea, DMV Neighbors Association, at leonorasea@yahoo.com
